I met my huband, a tall and handsome doctor and we lived in a small but vibrant East-Texas community. I had just turned 35 and I was ready to start my family. And here is where I made the biggest mistake of my life...

I quit my cushy pharmaceutical job to stay-at-home with my baby.

Now this seems like a normal thing to do. Women all over the world make this sacrafice to be at home with their families. Unfortunately for me this choice left me extremly vulnerable and fully reliant on my husband. Again, I thought this choice was a right of passage and my husband was going to take care of us financially.

Which he did, until he didn't.

Okay so this is the part of my story where I tell you that I was left rejected, financially abandoned, and two thousand miles away from any family to fall back on. I had no money of my own, and no access to our bank account and I was left to fend for myself with a baby on my hip.

I was crushed. Absolutely devastated and I felt like the dumbest woman in the whole entire world. I sat in this headspace for a season before I realized that I was already equipped with everything I ever needed to build my own business and create my own wealth. And here is where I tell you I made my second big mistake.

I really thought I had to figure it out on my own. So I flew solo, piece mealing my business together. Spending hours upon hours on youtube looking for resources. Hungry for answers but not knowing where or how to invest in myself or my business. What I started as a means to create freedom for my life quickly turned into an all consuming, never come up for air, unsustainable business model. I was now spending 80+ hours a week spinning my wheels.

And here is the day it changed for me...

My little boy asked for milk. He asked again and again and each time I told him I would get it as soon as I finished my task at hand. Except one task turned into another, and created another problem to which I needed to solve before proceeding. Ten or twenty minutes go by and I look up to see my four year old son pushing a chair up to the fridge and climbing up into the fridge to grab the milk jug himself.

I will never forget that moment of shame and mom guilt. How did I allow this business that I created to give me time-freedom to consume my entire life? I knew I needed to make some serious adjustments to my business model. One of those adjusments was to hire my first business coach to help me cut through the noise and streamline my business in a way that made dollars and cents. I knew I needed to clone myself but I had no idea I could achieve what I needed for my business and my clients by creating courses and offering digital products. Y'all that is the day the game changed for me.
